Thoughtful Monday.

Ever had one of those days where you spend most of the time with your head in the clouds, thinking about anything and everything? Well, unfortunately for my workplace, that was me today.

I couldn't really tell you much about the thoughts I had as I don't really remember them or was even aware of them at the time. All I know is, I seemed to have come up with some new ideas about my life and what I really want to do with it. It's so easy to get caught up in day to day mundane life, being aggravated by little things and wishing we were just somewhere else, doing something different. And then it kind of occurred to me.

Who says?

Who says you have to do that job you hate? (not that I hate mine) And who says you have to wash your hair at that time of morning? And who says you can't have that slice of cake if you want it and who says you can't do what it is you want to do? No one. One of life's great tragedies is that people always assume they are stuck and that there is no way out and it's just not the case. I've had my fair share of lows (serious lows) where I thought there was no way out and that that's just how things were. But it really isn't. It's anything you want it to be.

If you want a job as a Painter instead of a Sales Clerk then do it! Start Art classes or volunteer for local communities and get yourself out there! If you want to travel and see the world, go! Book that flight and discover. And if you want to wash your hair at night because you want a lie in in the morning, then sod it! Life is much too short for us to not do those little things that make us happy. To just put up with something that makes you sad, miserable, angry or just plain bored is not a necessity. It's a choice. So even if it's just something small, like watching a TV programme that you know EVERYONE else hates, who cares. Watch it, enjoy it and live life how you want to.

Because at the end of the day, your life is yours. No one else's.

Photo of the Week #2

This is just an image I took with my phone while travelling to work at about 8:30am. It looked so lovely that I just quickly took my phone out and snapped! I fell in love as soon as I saw it on the bus.
It's as though it's a snapshot that in some way, sums up many people's London morning commute.

Most of my favourite photos, from myself and others, are the ones that aren't planned or forced. You just happened to catch a moment in time that's real, beautiful & unedited.

So for that reason, this is my Photo of the Week. I hope you like it.

Learning New Skills

So these last couple of days whilst I've had some well deserved time off work (it's been bliss) I've been immersing myself in a recently discovered program; Photoshop Lightroom 5. It's completely brand new to me, which my boyfriend so kindly recommended, and I have to that say so far I'm loving it. It's an extremely user friendly piece of software and pretty quick to get the hang of.
I've always used Photoshop myself, but I was looking for something that was a little more photography focused and also a little simpler to use on the surface. Photoshop is a powerful tool but it can sometimes be a bit of a fiddle to get simple things done (or maybe that's just me not using it correctly!) I think I've found my new go to editing software though.

If you're looking for something that can fine tune your photos (almost like an in depth version of Instagram) then I would give this a try. You can download a 30 day free trial through Adobe.

Here are a few photos and examples that I've been working on from when I went to Ikea with Dan an Chloe (they made me laugh so much while taking these) They are by no means perfect but it's amazing to see the difference in the before and after images.

What do you think? And do you guys have any Photography/Editing programs that you love to use? If so then lemme know :)

Also you may have noticed that I've changed my blog layout. Again. Sorry about that. I'm sure many of you who run blogs will understand that it's hard to be 100% happy with how it looks when you're first starting out. I have to say though, that I think I'm finally happy with how it looks now and I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with this for the foreseeable future.

Photo of the Week #1- In Memory of Olivia Dobney

This time last year I lost one of my closest and best friends. She was one of the first friends I made at University and the one I stuck with throughout. She was funny, talented, kind, a pretty bad cook and REALLY stubborn. She was also the first person to make me laugh so hard, that my coke shot out of my nose. But she was also the last person on the dance floor with me every Saturday night and the one who was always there for me when I needed her. There was nothing I couldn't talk to her about and nothing she wouldn't listen to.

I miss her everyday.

So this weeks Photo of the Week is dedicated to Olivia Dobney. Someone I will never forget and never stop missing.

And so it rains..

So I was planning on going out and taking some photos over the last few days, as it's my favourite time of the year. The low sun, warming colours, that fresh and cosy feeling when starting to wrap up. It's just lovely.
But no. It rains. All the time. So I haven't really been able to go out and take any pictures (that and I'm working all hours under the sun at the moment) which has been a bit disappointing. I get the feeling working a full time job and also running this blog is going to take quite some effort on my part, especially with the weather against me on my days off! I'm up for the challenge though.
So sorry I haven't really posted anything for anyone to see. Here's hoping that the weather perks up again soon in time for me to go out and catch the lovely Autumn colours in all their glory!

So for now, have this lovely, very instagramed photo from my library (it's one of my faves) & I'll get some good stuff up soon!

So Where's This Blog Going?

Okay, so I've done the hard bit. The first post. Now it's time to talk about what's going to be going on in this little internet space of mine.

The main reason for starting this blog is to share my photography work with the world. It's something that I've recently got back into and want to be able to share with anyone willing to look at it!
I don't really have a specific style of photography, I just like to snap away and when I take something I'm really proud of, I'll edit it a little on Photoshop and share it.

Every Friday I'll be posting my Photo of the Week. This'll be my favourite photo I've taken that week whether it be on my DSLR or my iPhone. I'll let you guys know where I took it and when and why it's worthy of such a title!
It's also a way to give myself a little kick up the butt each week to take some photos as it can be easy to do nothing on my days off and then be sad that I didn't go out and take some! In between those posts I'll simply be posting little bits here and there either about photography, my life or maybe just a random thought I figured would be good to share.

So my first Photo of the Week post will be tomorrow evening! So let me know what you think about it!
For now, here are a few of my favourites that I've found on my memory card when importing my library. They aren't masterpieces by any means. Just ones that make me smile :)

The Beginning

I have decided after some time, and a lot of thought, to finally start a blog. A small corner of the web in which I can share my ideas, thoughts and just plain crazy bits of me! A place to show my photos and creative side off, all while keeping you entertained and coming back (hopefully!)

Maybe my creativity will inspire you to do something different, start your own blog! Or maybe you'll just enjoy reading about how I tripped up that day and smacked my face (that happens regularly actually)

So if you're reading this, thanks and welcome! I hope to see you here again soon.

Ttfn. (ta ta for now)
